HOW MANY CLASSMATES CAN YOU NAME?

May 31, 2009

My apologies for the delay in posting the names of these North McComb 5th graders. As my dad used to say, "Everything has been at sixes and sevens." Hmm! never did know what that meant - but you know what? If you go to Google and type in that sentence, it will bring up a page of idioms and their definitions, including this one! WOW! How do I know, you ask? 'cause I tried it!!!

Anyway, my thanks to Lou and Mavis for filling in all the blanks. Here are the names:

Front Row: John Gordon, Anna Merle, Carey Smith, Carol Ann, Olga Jean, Crew Hall, Don Middleton

Row 2: Sylvia, Warner, Charles Norman Stietenroth, Kay, Bill Osborne, Wesley Walker, Mary Claire, Joe Brumfield

Row 3: Billy Bierbaum, Katherine Mixon, Miss Julia Brent, *JoAnn___, Lou Margaret

Lou didn't remember JoAnn's last name. Just that she moved away. She recalled Crew Hall very well. Even to the fact that Crew's parents moved, but she was allowed to stay with Katie Broach until the school year was over.

John Gordon remembers Charles Norman Stietenroth, as did Mavis, and the tragedy of his swimming accident. I'm not sure when he actually passed away. Mavis (I think it was) also remembered the passing of Charles Parker - Tommy's younger brother.

Now, a question for you: Do any of you who attended East McComb or South McComb have pictures to share? If so, send them along and we'll play Trivia again.

____________

Leachie Klotz sent this photo to John William, who forwarded it to Mavis - both of whom sent it to me! I'm quite sure that many of you can name all of these 5th grade students. Most, if not all, of them graduated in the Class of '56.
